Great Pencil for Sudoku ! It has softer lead than regular # 2 pencil and it erases very easily. My search # was 13885, medium Dixon . My original pencil search # was 1388-2 5/10 / F MEDIUM . This is the closest one to that search, so I hope it is the same pencil with an updated ordering code.

Customer Review: Not made in the USA
The picture of the pencil showed a pencil made in the USA so I bought a box but when they arrived I saw they were just the cheap Mexico made pencils. The wood on the Mexico or China manufactured pencils shatters easily and frequently when you sharpen it and in general does not have the same feeling as the good old made in the USA Ticonderoga pencils. It broke my heart when I discovered Ticonderogas were no longer made in the USA and it was another blow when I thought I'd found a stock pile of old USA pencils only to have gotten more cheap mexican pencils. Don't waste your time on these pencils, even if they are Ticonderogas. : Ticonderoga Pencils

These are pretty good #3 pencils. I like to use #3 & #4 pencils. The shipping costs all the suppliers charge are unsupportable. $6.50 to ship a dozen pencils?
Until this becomes more realistic I won't be buying any office supplies from Amazon.

I have problems finding #3 pencils. #2 that everyone has are to soft and I leave most of them in the pencil sharper. Not only was this a good find, it was half the cost of Office Depot and the shipping was less. On the shipping I recived my pincel order in less then 48 hours. Unhear of these days. This is the best pencil on the market. It is so good that it is always an item we ask for specifcally while on deployments.

Reasons why this pencil is the best:

(1) Since it is constructed with REAL wood and not synthetic wood/rubber - this pencil is very easy to sharpen by hand or with an electronic sharpener. Try sharpening a rubber pencil in an electronic sharpner and it is a total waste of time.

(2) The lead does not break off very easily and can be sharpened to a very fine point. This pencil is more reliable than a more expensive .3mm mechanical drafting pencil at producing very fine lines.

(3) An eraser that works!!! A lot of pencils these days have erasers that do nothing but smear and make things worst. The erasers of lesser pencils simply do not work at all! The Dixon Ticonderoga pencil has a very fine eraser to compliment the lead and it does an excellent job of removing lead without smearing and never ever gets dried out.

If you like to work crossword puzzles or sketch, this is perfect--darker lead than no. 2 pencils and very easy to erase. The only problem is that no. 1 pencils are so hard to find. Of the few brands available, Ticonderoga is way better.

Without this pencil, my life would have been a smear on carbon paper. This pencil made it easier for me to correct my life without any smudges. It kept me sharp, life was no longer dull. It may be #2 but it is #1 in my book!
Customer Review: Doesn't Live Up To Its Reputation
Dixon Ticonderogas are supposed to be the premiere pencils to end all pencils. Certainly, no one is denying that ultra-smooth finish when writing. The problem is that for a non-drawing pencil, the feel is way too smooth. In fact, you lose every bit of crisp texture which is the hallmark of writing with a standard #2. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, envision the difference between the normal pencil and a soft colored pencil. Ticonderogas feel like writing with that soft lead. And that's a shame, considering in other aspects this pencil is obviously quality. It sharpens with a nice even point (no off-center graphite), both the wood and graphite are not prone to splintering, and the eraser doesn't smudge or leave behind marks. My best advice -- the regular Dixon is not only cheaper but writes better also.
